Biography

Lia Chen Perlov was born in Tel Aviv on July 13, 1994. She started playing the Cello at the age of 9 at the “Israeli Conservatory Of Music”. She graduated the ‘Thelma Yellin high school of arts’ with her previous teacher Zvi Plesser, continued her studies in the ‘Buchmann-Mehta school of music’ with Prof. Hillel Zori and she nowadays studies for her Bachelor degree with Prof. Troels Svane at the MusikHochschule Lübeck.

As a soloist Lia Chen Perlov was invited to make her debut with the Luebecker Philharmoniker playing “Schelomo” by E.Bloch in Summer 2017. She also played with the “Chuersaechsiche Philharmonie” , “The Munster Musikhochschule Festival Orchestra”, “The Thelma- Yellin Symphony

Orchestra” and with the “Israeli Conservatory Symphony Orchestra”.

Lia was a finalist at the “Aviv Competition-Tel-Aviv” in winter 2018. In 2016 she won the first prize of the “Paul Ben-Haim” competition and lately she won the Second prize of the “Possehl Competition”. Lia won the first prize of “The Israeli Conservatory Competition”, the “Turgeman Competition” and “The Kol-Hamusica Competition”.Since 2005 Lia has received annual grants from the “American-Israel Cultural Foundation” and lately, she received a special Prize from “The Kiwanis club”. She also received a scholarship for her studies in the years 2015-2016 from the “Possehl” Foundation in Germany.

In spring 2017 Lia was invited to give a live broadcasted recital in the Jerusalem Music center, Her recitals also took place in the Tel-Aviv Opera House (which received warm reactions from the press such as “a musical surprise was at the performance of the young Israeli Cellist Lia Chen Perlov, a virtuosic Performance that was full of sensitivity and expression”), and in different cities over europe and the United States.

Lia is a very active ensemble player, She played among the years with musicians such as Sabine Meyer, Shmuel Ashkenazy, Hagai Shaham, Atar Arad, Gavriel Lipkind, Gilad Karni and more.
Lia is an active member of the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester. She played as a principal cellist under the conducting of Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Dudamel and many more.

Lia Chen Perlov participated in Master Classes with David Geringas, Wolfgang Böttcher, Haim Taub, Jens Peter- Mainz, Gavriel Lipkind, Shmuel Ashkenazy, Peter Wiley, Peter Bruns, Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmersson, Michel Strauss, Matias de Oliveira, Rafael Walfish, Troels Svane, Larissa Groeneveld, Floris Mijnders, Mannuel Fischer-Dieskau, Miriam Fried, Uzi Wiesel, Tim Park and among others.
